Bio/Mission
I am the author of Too Much to Dream: A Psychedelic American Boyhood (Soft Skull Press, 2011) and co-author with Scott Korb of The Faith Between Us (Bloomsbury, 2007). Some of my other work has appeared in Tin House, The Times Literary Supplement, The Boston Globe, The Revealer, The Believer, Killing the Buddha, and Tablet. My main areas of interest include the intersection of the counterculture with popular culture, the history of mysticism and the occult in American pop culture, and the influence of underground music, rpgs, comics and science fiction on the mainstream.
