Eugene Ionesco- Photograph of A Colonel

I am curious as to the 'why' of this story being a featured article. There are some lines in this piece that make one almost say ahhhh! like watching fireworks. Battalions of Christ?!- how great is that. And the description of the content of the briefcase. It it a story of creative processes or a mirror to larger things. Maybe it's just a rhinoceros. Has anyone stumbled on this before? Thoughts?

From the About Us page: Also available in our Library are a selection of excerpts from the Evergreen Review, perhaps the most influential cultural magazine of the 20th century, run by Barney Rosset, founder of Grove Press. We offer these excerpts, by writers such as Samuel Beckett, Frank O'Hara, Marguerite Duras and so forth to give some context to our efforts to be creating and supporting the independent publishers of the 21st century.
Thanks for posting Photograph of a Colonel. I'd not heard of this before. It's been a long time since I've read or seen Ionesco performed and this is a real treat. I'm thrilled you've got Grove Press excerpts here.
